ANDREW BRODRICK, CO-PRESIDENT, FREENOTE CLOTH
Freenote’s mission is to help people understand the value of American made product.
SILVR: Who or what is your biggest inspiration?
Andrew: This answer is twofold. My wife inspires me to be successful and in reality, gives me a reason to be successful. Wanting to provide for my wife and sons really pushes me in the right direction. The second person is my old man who is undoubtedly the hardest working person I have ever met. His work ethic and trade have always been inspiring to me and have pushed me to be focused and driven.
SILVR: What is Freenote’s mission?
Andrew: To help people understand the value of American made product.
SILVR: Why “Made in the USA?”
Andrew: To answer this question with a question, “Why not?” Why would you not make clothing in America? A quote from Mr. Freedom sums it up best, “Think: Who really picks up your tab on a clothing bargain? Don’t just buy cheap, it’s not worth it, buy right. Clothes cost money for many reasons. One of them is because real people make them.”
SILVR: What piece of advice would you give to someone starting their own business?
Andrew: There are many businesses you can start on your own so this advice is for businesses that may require more than one partner: Find a partner that you trust with your life or your family. Every business is a risk and you can share in that risk and eliminate a lot of heartache with a great partner. Matt (my older brother) and I are equal partners in Freenote and have become even closer since launching the brand. The fact that we each share a completely different skill set is helpful, but again the main piece of advice is that he is a partner I trust through and through.
UP-CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH FREENOTE
SILVR: Favorite item of clothing (non-Freenote)?
Andrew: Vintage black leather perfecto jacket made in America and from the 1960s. I hope I can be as sketchy as the people who wore this before me. I will do my best. I purchased it at What Goes Around Comes Around in NYC. They took me into a lair in the basement to find this jacket. It is awesome and fits like a glove. The leather is worn but not cracked and the zippers are original and don’t really work so who knows what could be in the pockets.
SILVR: What’s something surprising most people don’t know about you?
Andrew: I play a lot of tennis. It is a funny sport in that participation levels drop almost every year, so the only people left that play are weirdos like myself.
SILVR: What’s the last song you listened to?
Andrew: Ambitionz Az a Ridah, Tupac Shakur
